emmy

emmy (she/her) arrives at her counseling internship with six years of experience working alongside children, youth and families within community, mental health, and social work settings. emmy has her bachelors of social work (BSW) and is in the process of completing her masters in social work. emmy also has a bachelor of arts in gender, sexuality and social justice and psychology.

emmy is an uninvited settler of european descent living on the unceded traditional and ancestral homelands of the xwm??kw?y??m (Musqueam), Skwxw?7mesh (Squamish), and S?l??lw?ta?/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations in vancouver. her practice is grounded in intersectional feminist, queer, anti-oppressive and decolonial theory. she strives towards a social justice oriented practice, and also recognizes that this requires ongoing work of listening, learning and unlearning.

emmy brings lived experience as a queer cis gendered woman and neuro-divergent person who has experienced  mental health struggles. she also has a personal understanding of navigating health care system burn-out, grappling with family trauma, and living with loved ones experiences challenges with substance misuse. emmy is passionate about trauma informed approaches and understands the privilege of being invited into the lives of those she works with.

 

in her personal life, emmy is never too far away from the forest or the ocean. she loves to be outside rain or shine - hiking, biking, swimming and forest bathing. community and chosen family means are at the centre of her life. she is a daughter, partner, and sister.
